‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2’: Smriti Irani’s Show Headed For A Long Extension
“Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2” has been one of the best-performing shows for the channel in recent times. Smriti Irani made a comeback to TV with the new season of “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2” that focused on the new generation. Variety India learns that the current season is set for a long extension. Initial talks suggested that this season would go off air by the end-August. However, the daily soap is expected to continue till the end of 2026. Moreover, if the numbers continue to be encouraging, the channel might even contemplate running it till 2027.

Ever since it went on air from end-July 2025, “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2” has been one of the successes for the channel. It was getting TRPs over 2 in the pre-IPL phase. However, it has slowed down of late raking in numbers like 1.5 on the TRP charts. As of now, BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Council) has suspended the declaration of TRPs because of the directive of the Ministry. This has created a dilemma for many channels and producers who wish to make decisions on shows.
“Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2” serial's latest track focuses on how Irani’s character returns to Virani mansion from jail. Her relationship with her son, Karan (Hiten Tejwani) seems irreparable after the death of Parth (Sohil Singh Jhuti). He is killed by Nandini (Gauri Pradhan Tejwani) and Tulsi takes the blame on herself. Irani as Tulsi has to rebuild relationships in the Virani household to bring back that feeling of joy and unity that defined the ancestral home.
The makers also made a spin-off "Kyunki Rishton Ke Bhi Roop Badalte Hain" starring Rohit Suchanti and Tanisha Mehta. It highlights the life of Angad (Suchanti) and Vrinda (Mehta) who live separately from the family.
