Emmy Winners: ‘Widow’s Bay’ Leads Record-Breaking Night With 14 Trophies, Followed by ‘The Pitt’ And ‘DTF St. Louis’
The 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards turned into a major victory for Apple TV+’s dark comedy "Widow’s Bay", which scooped up 14 total trophies between the main telecast and the Creative Arts ceremony. The breakout hit secured top honors including Best Comedy Series, alongside wins for creator Katie Dippold’s writing and Hiro Murai’s direction. Matthew Rhys made history by snagging Lead Actor in a Comedy Series while simultaneously winning for his role in the limited series "The Beast in Me". Co-stars Stephen Root and Kate O’Flynn also claimed the supporting acting categories.

In the drama categories, HBO’s "The Pitt" capitalized on its 25 nominations by taking home seven statues, highlighted by its second consecutive wins for Best Drama Series and Lead Actor Noah Wyle. Meanwhile, Vince Gilligan’s sci-fi drama "Pluribus" made a strong showing with six awards, finally yielding a long-overdue Lead Actress win for Rhea Seehorn alongside a writing award for Gilligan.
Over on the limited series side, "DTF St. Louis" matched "The Pitt" with seven victories. Creator Steven Conrad swept both the writing and directing awards, while David Harbour and Linda Cardellini swept their respective supporting categories. Other standout acting triumphs of the night featured Allison Janney ("The Diplomat") and Tom Pelphrey ("Task") in drama supporting roles, alongside Sally Field’s Lead Actress victory for "Remarkably Bright Creatures".
Host Mariska Hargitay steered the broadcast smoothly, using quick wardrobe shifts, comedic bits, and a standout "Law & Order: SVU" parody featuring Taylor Swift to keep the telecast energetic.
