BTS Keep It Surprisingly ‘NORMAL’ With Their Cheekiest Music Video Teaser Yet

The BTS members have released a tongue-in-cheek teaser to build anticipation around the release of their track "NORMAL"'s music video. The music video and the Korean version of the popular track will debut exclusively on Spotify on July 17, followed by their release across all major streaming platforms on July 19.

The track offers a rare glimpse into the minds of seven of the world's biggest singing stars, reminding listeners that behind the global fame are ordinary people navigating life's ups and downs just like everyone else. Leaning into that message with a dose of playful humor, the teaser opens with the members standing side by side at urinals in a public restroom. The imagery is unexpectedly mundane and cheeky. Come to think of it, it probably underscores the song's celebration of everyday normalcy. The singers are all suited, as they line up shoulder to shoulder in the restroom. This also suggests that even global superstars share the same ordinary, sometimes awkward, experiences as everyone else.

The song is built around punchy kick-and-snare rhythms and hazy psychedelic guitar sounds. It also pairs a relaxed sing-rap delivery with lyrics that explore the emotions and experiences of everyday life. Produced by Ryan Tedder, the track's arrangement allows the reflective storytelling to remain the focal point.

Interestingly, the campaign leading up to the song's release has generated almost as much conversation as the track itself. On July 13 and 14, fans were also surprised to see tabloid-style advertisements in the San Francisco Chronicle and the New York Post. It was a promotional move that quickly sparked buzz online. The advertisement's headline reads, "BTS Seen in Bathroom Amid Mysterious Late-Night Gathering."

The release comes as BTS continue their record-breaking European run on the BTS World Tour: ARIRANG, drawing packed crowds at stadium shows across the continent. The momentum follows the success of their album ARIRANG, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year, while its lead single "SWIM" also entered the Billboard Hot 100 at the top spot.
