‘Avengers: Endgame: Encore’ Box Office: India Becomes Fifth-Biggest Market for MCU Superhero Re-release
The re-release of the MCU blockbuster “Avengers: Endgame: Encore” has opened to a thunderous response at the global box office, grossing $60 million in its first weekend.
While the North American domestic market, comprising the United States and Canada, contributed $26 million to the total, India emerged as the fifth-biggest circuit for the film, after China ($13.5 million), the UK ($5.4 million) and Mexico ($4.2 million).
With $2.8 million (net: ₹22.45 crore) from its re-run, the film now stands at a grand total of ₹395.50 crore in India, having earned ₹373.05 crore during its original theatrical run in 2019. With these figures, it has surpassed James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” (₹391.40 crore) to become the second-highest-grossing Hollywood film in India, behind “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” (₹500.20 crore).

While the film is expected to cross the ₹400 crore mark today or tomorrow, it has little chance of coming close to the webhead flick.
The re-release of “Avengers: Endgame” has been executed as a special strategy, with four minutes of bonus footage, a new post-credits scene and an exclusive sneak peek at the MCU’s upcoming tentpole project, “Avengers: Doomsday.”
The upcoming Joe and Anthony Russo directorial will see characters from different corners of the Marvel universe, including the Avengers, Wakandans, New Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men, come together for an epic battle against Robert Downey Jr.’s Victor Von Doom, in a conflict that could change the course of the multiverse.
The film will hit screens on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the MCU. It will lock horns with director Denis Villeneuve’s epic space opera “Dune: Part Three,” starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach de Bankolé, Charlotte Rampling, Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson and Javier Bardem.
