‘Alpha’ Leads Friday Box Office With ₹9 Crore Opening, ‘Baby Do Die Do’ Debuts Quietly
Alia Bhatt and Sharvari-led action thriller "Alpha" topped the Indian box-office on Friday with a ₹9 crore (net) opening, while Akshay Kumar's "Welcome to the Jungle" continued its steady theatrical run in its second week. Meanwhile Huma Qureshi-led "Baby Do Die Do" opened to a modest start.
Directed by Shiv Rawail, "Alpha" collected ₹9 crore (net) in India on its opening day across 7,534 shows, according to Box Office India (BOI). The film grossed ₹10.80 crore domestically, while adding another ₹5 crore from overseas markets, taking its worldwide opening-day gross to ₹15.80 crore.
While the film emerged as the day's biggest release, it also registered the lowest opening day for a title in Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe. Previous entries in the franchise, "Ek Tha Tiger," "Tiger Zinda Hai," "War," "Pathaan," "Tiger 3" and "War 2," all debuted with higher first-day collections. As the first female-led installment in the blockbuster spy franchise, "Alpha" will now look towards the weekend to build momentum through audience word-of–mouth.

Holdover release "Welcome To The Jungle" continued to post a healthy hold in its second week. The comedy entertainer collected ₹4.75 crore net on its second Friday, registering only a 15% drop from Thursday. The film's domestic net total now stands at approximately ₹97.75 crore, leaving it within touching distance of the ₹100 crore milestone.
The minimal decline suggests the film has maintained a stable hold despite fresh competition entering cinemas this week. It is now expected to cross the ₹100 crore mark over the weekend.

Among the week's other new releases, "Baby Do Die Do" opened quietly with ₹0.40 crore net in India on Friday. The film will now rely heavily on positive audience reception over Saturday and Sunday to improve its theatrical prospects.
The weekend now shifts focus to whether "Alpha" can deliver the customary jump over Saturday and Sunday to compensate for its comparatively muted opening within the YRF Spy Universe, while "Welcome to the Jungle" looks set to become the latest Hindi release to enter the ₹100 crore club.
