‘Aadu 3’ Fares Better Than ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ At Kerala Box-Office

"Aadu 3: One Last Ride Part-1," one of the most eagerly awaited Malayalam films of 2026, debuted on the big screen on Mar. 19, 2026, to overwhelmingly positive reviews from fans of the film series. Despite being released alongside Ranveer Singh's "Dhurandhar: The Revenge," "Aadu 3," the third instalment of the popular Malayalam slapstick comedy, is faring better at the box-office.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk.com, the Jayasurya-starrer is doing better in theatres in Kerala, earning over ₹5.95 crore on its opening day with 67% occupancy and ₹6.3 crore on its second day, which had higher occupancy. On Thursday, "Dhurandhar 2" managed to earn ₹2.76 crore in the state, as per RecoBee.AI. Now, all eyes are on whether the Hindi action thriller as well as "Aadu 3" will attract more people over the weekend. In the meantime, these films, along with Arjun Ashokan's "Chatha Pacha," are among the top three box office openings in Malayalam this year. It's interesting to note that the movie also has Jayasurya's highest opening figures to date. By the end of the upcoming week, it is also anticipated to surpass the Rs 50 crore box office collection mark.

Due to the increased demand in theatres over the weekend, the producers of "Aadu 3" have also added extra screenings: more than 320 throughout the state. A growing number of people are rewatching this film to enjoy the hilarious moments again, allude to its next instalment, and draw comparisons to "Padakkalam," another fantasy movie backed by the same production house, Friday Film House. In the meantime, Midhun Manuel Thomas, the film's director, thanked viewers on social media for their positive reactions to the movie. "Aadu 3" is a remarkable project in my career and for the whole team. It was difficult to adapt a slapstick comedy into a fantasy drama, and we weren't sure how the audience would react. We are greatly supported by the enthusiastic response," he stated.
Many people eagerly awaited "Aadu 3"'s theatrical release because it brought back their favourite characters, like Vinayakan as Dude, Saiju Kurup as Arakkal Abu, and Jayasurya as Shaji Pappan. This comedy film is set in three timelines: the past, present, and future. Other prominent cast members include Indrans, Vijay Babu, Sunny Wayne, and Dharmajan Bolgatty.
