‘Vincenzo’ Turns Five: Fans Revisit Song Joong-ki, Jeon Yeo-been’s Mafia Revenge Drama On Its Anniversary
In the lockdown of COVID-19 in 2020, "Vincenzo" was one Korean drama that went viral all over the globe along with "Squid Game". Actor Song Joong-Ki played the titular role along with actress Jeon Yeo-been. Singer-actor Ok Taec-yeon earned laurels for his villainous outing as Jang Jun-woo/ Jang Han-seok in the riveting revenge drama laced with comedy and action. Today, "Vincenzo" has completed five years. Fans are sharing clips from what is termed as "best mafia-style revenge" story to come out from Korean drama world in the past few years. The plot was about a mafia consigliere (advisor), Vincenzo Cassano of Korean descent, who returns to Seoul to find hidden gold in the Guemja Plaza Building.

The opening sequence of "Vincenzo" is still fresh in people's minds with Song Joong-ki's stylish avatar in Italian suits threatening a rival mafia family. To date, people believe that only Jeon Yeo-been rivals actress Song Hye-kyo when it comes to best onscreen chemistry with Song Joong-ki. Fans still remember moments from the show like when Inzaghi, the pigeon saved Vincenzo Cassano or the kiss in the art gallery. "Vincenzo" was directed by Kim Hee-won who got a special recommendation from South Korean government after the success of "Vincenzo".

It was not only the lead characters but also the ensemble cast that got immense love from viewers. Jo Han-chul, Yoo Jae-Myung, Kim Yeo-jin, Kim Yoon-hye, Lee Hee-joon and the rest of the supporting cast were also in top form. Song Joong-ki's swag and charisma in "Vincenzo" makes it one of the flamboyant male characters of Korean dramas ever.
There has been a continuous demand for second season with Song Joong-ki expressing his desire for the same. "Vincenzo" which had 20 episodes with each having a run-time of close to one hour was watched widely in India. The Hindi dubbed version was also a success. Fans believe there is a scope for a new story as he is now living in a island in the Mediterranean with his mafia family.
