Varun Dhawan Teams Up With ‘Rocket Boys’ Director Abhay Pannu for Horror Film

Varun Dhawan has signed on to headline a new horror feature directed by "Rocket Boys" creator Abhay Pannu, with production expected to begin later this year.
The film is targeting a theatrical release in 2027. Pannu has also written the screenplay, marking his first theatrical directorial venture after establishing himself in long-form storytelling.
The project also marks the first theatrical horror film from Yash Raj Films, a studio whose slate has traditionally focused on romance, drama, action, comedy and spy thrillers.

Pannu is best known for creating and directing "Rocket Boys," the acclaimed series chronicling the lives of Indian scientists Homi J. Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai. The upcoming feature will be his first theatrical release as a director.
For Dhawan, the film marks a reunion with the studio after "Sui Dhaaga: Made in India" (2018), directed by Sharat Katariya and co-starring Anushka Sharma. The project also adds another genre title to the actor's upcoming slate as he continues to alternate between commercial entertainers and character-driven films.
Additional details about the film's story, supporting cast and title remain under wraps. Principal photography is expected to commence later this year.
