Unni Mukundan To Lock Horns With Ajith In ‘Dare Devil’? (EXCLUSIVE)

There is fresh excitement around Ajith Kumar’s next film, and if the latest buzz from Tamil film circles is anything to go by, the project could be getting a formidable antagonist. Malayalam action star Unni Mukundan is reportedly in talks to play a crucial villain role opposite Ajith in “Dare Devil”, the upcoming action entertainer directed by Adhik Ravichandran.

“Dare Devil” marks another collaboration between Ajith and Adhik after their 2025 film “Good Bad Ugly”. The new project is being produced by Ajith’s wife Shalini and is expected to be mounted on a considerably ambitious scale.

According to sources, the role being discussed for Unni is pivotal to the story. Interestingly, Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was initially in talks to take on the part. However, with the actor committed to an extended cameo in “Jailer 2”, he is said to have been unable to accommodate the dates required for “Dare Devil”.

Unni, meanwhile, has emerged as one of the most prominent Malayalam action stars with a growing pan-India following. His major breakthrough came with “Marco” (2024), the ultra-violent action thriller that turned into a major commercial success and reportedly grossed around ₹105 crore worldwide. The film also generated enough momentum for a sequel to be planned. Unni had earlier ventured into production with “Meppadiyan”, which won the National Film Award for Best Film on Other Social Issues.

For Ajith, “Dare Devil” arrives at a particularly interesting point in his career. His last release, “Good Bad Ugly”, gave audiences the kind of larger-than-life action spectacle that has become synonymous with his star image, while Adhik’s direction brought a distinct commercial energy to the film. The prospect of the duo returning with an even bigger action film has already generated considerable curiosity among Ajith fans.

“Dare Devil” is currently scheduled to begin shooting on November 2, with a mid-2027 release being targeted. If Unni Mukundan officially comes on board, the Ajith-Unni face-off could add another major talking point to what is already shaping up to be one of Tamil cinema’s highly anticipated action projects.
