Whether on the cricket field or behind the microphone, Sourav Ganguly has proved his mettle. The former India captain is now hosting “Bigg Boss Bangla,” the Bengali version of Salman Khan’s popular reality show, while continuing his association with cricket as a commentator. One of the game’s most articulate voices, Ganguly gets candid in a quick chat about cricket, television and his latest innings as a host.

Do you often forget that you are no longer a cricketer?
No, I watch it like a viewer now. I don't watch it like a player.

Was retirement from cricket easy to accept?
It wasn't too difficult. You know, you're involved in cricket all the time, so you actually don't miss playing the game.

Do you still shadow bat at home?
No, not anymore.

Do you ever miss training in the nets?
Not anymore. I have 20 years of cricket experience, including training and practice sessions, so I don't miss any of them.

Tell us about the cricket memorabilia at your home?
I have my first Test bat, my last Test bat, my World Cup medals, my winning trophies, and my Man Of The Match and Man of the Series awards. Everything is spic and span at home.

Have you forgiven people who were your detractors?
I still have critics. I feel that's part of professional life.

What do you like most about the current game?
T20 cricket has taken the world by storm, but I still feel Test Match cricket is the best form of the game.

Which country did you enjoy playing cricket the most apart from India?
England.

If you had the chance to repeat an innings, which one would it be?
My first Test at Lord’s.
