‘Demonte Colony 3’: The Madras High Court Lifts The Interim Stay On Supernatural Horror
The Madras High Court has lifted the interim stay on director Ajay Gnanamuthu’s “Demonte Colony 3.” Following this move, the legal path for the production house Passion Studios has been cleared for a smooth release of the film.
The third part of the horror franchise starring Arulnithi and Priya Bhavani Shankar, which was originally slated to hit the screens on October 1, is now likely to be a Pooja holiday weekend release.
The development comes after the Chennai High Court granted an interim stay on the film's release due to the petition filed by A Vijaya Subramanian’s production company White Nights Entertainments against the director Gnanamuthu for allegedly breaching the January 2023 agreement regarding sequel rights for the “Demonte Colony” franchise and omitting them from CBFC certification and promotions after the filmmaker joined hands with Passion Studios.

Due to this, Justice K. Kumaresh Babu of the Madras High Court placed a temporary hold on the movie's theatrical and digital release in mid-September 2026.
As the court has now officially lifted the stay, an official announcement regarding the release date is expected to be made soon.
Also starring Meenakshi Govindarajan, Archana Ravichandran, Guru Somasundaram, Miya George, Shreekumar and G. M. Kumar and Muthukumar, the film’s music is composed by Sam C. S., with cinematography by Sivakumar Vijayan and editing by Kumaresh D.
It is produced under the banners of Passion Studios, Dangal TV, RDC Media and Gnanamuthu Pattarai.
The post-theatrical satellite and streaming rights of the film have been acquired by Zee Tamil and ZEE5, respectively.
