Salman Khan’s "Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace" is still in post-production, with the makers yet to lock the film’s final cut or submit it to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Additionally, it is learnt that the background score is currently being worked on with composer Ravi Basrur, even as changes to the film are being incorporated.
A source close to the development tells Variety India, “Ravi Basrur is currently working on the score at Octavia Studios and the makers are yet to arrive at the final cut. The changes being asked for are being incorporated into the film; the final version is yet to be locked."
The film will be sent to the CBFC for certification only post final approvals. There is no clarity on the release window, either. Release plans will be decided once the final cut is locked and the certification process is initiated," the source added.

The update comes as the film continues to remain in flux, with its certification status and release plans attracting attention in recent months. The immediate focus, however, remains on completing the film.
"Maatrubhumi" has already undergone a significant evolution since it was first announced as "Battle of Galwan". The project, directed by Apoorva Lakhia and produced by Salman Khan Films, is inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops, with Salman playing an Indian Army officer. Chitrangda Singh also stars in the film.
The film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on April 17, 2026. That release date passed without the film arriving in cinemas, following changes to the project during its development. In March, the makers unveiled its new title, "Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace", alongside a new poster.
The title change came as the film's positioning evolved from the earlier "Battle of Galwan" identity. While the story remains rooted in the Galwan conflict, the new title signals a broader thematic emphasis on the human cost of war and the possibility of peace.
The film has also been the subject of speculation around the extent of changes being made to its content. The source confirms that changes are currently being incorporated, but the nature and extent of those changes have not been disclosed.
For now, there is no release date attached to "Maatrubhumi". The next steps are clear: the makers need to complete the background score and other post-production work, lock the final cut, submit the film for certification and then determine a theatrical window. Until those stages are completed, the Salman Khan-led film remains without a confirmed release date.
