‘Jailer 2’: No Hindi Theatrical Release for Rajinikanth’s Film As Makers Opt for Early OTT Premiere
By Sakshi Navare,
Nelson Dilipkumar’s “Jailer 2,” starring Rajinikanth, is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15. However, the news may disappoint fans in the Hindi-speaking markets, as the Tamil action thriller will not receive a Hindi-dubbed theatrical release. The decision also means that major multiplex chains, including PVR INOX and Cinepolis, will not screen the film in Hindi.
Despite being a pan-Indian film and having casts from the Hindi film industry, including Vidya Balan and Mithun Chakraborty. Moreover, actors like Hrithik Roshan and Jackie Shroff are also making cameos in the movie. However, as per a recent update from SCREEN, Sun Pictures, the production banner behind the film and owned by Kalanithi Maran, has reportedly secured a deal with a major OTT platform to stream “Jailer 2” in all languages within four weeks of its theatrical debut.

The four-week window is an exception for the Hindi market, but it works for the Tamil film industry. Unlike the usual strategy adopted by several pan-India films, where dubbed versions arrive on OTT in phases, “Jailer 2” is expected to make its digital debut in every language simultaneously in November. Typically, the South Indian versions become available first, with the Hindi-dubbed edition following around a month later.
