‘Jailer 2’ Gets 6 AM First Shows In Kerala; Advance Booking Opens October 11

Rajinikanth’s “Jailer 2” is heading towards a 6 AM opening in Kerala. The sequel’s first shows in the state are scheduled for 6 AM on October 15, the day of its worldwide theatrical release, while advance booking will open on October 11 at 10 AM IST. The development puts the film’s Kerala rollout among the first major markets to formally lock its opening-day showtime and booking schedule.

The Kerala release is being distributed by Sree Gokulam Movies, with Dream Big Films as the distribution partner. Sree Gokulam Movies is also handling the film’s Karnataka distribution. The distributor is preparing a large-scale rollout for the Rajinikanth starrer, with trade reports indicating a target of more than 4,000 shows in Kerala. That figure is a reported target and should not be treated as the final show count.

The 6 AM start is particularly significant for a Rajinikanth film in Kerala, where early-morning first shows have traditionally been an important part of the superstar’s opening-day theatrical culture. “Jailer 2” will now enter that market with bookings opening four days before release, giving exhibitors and the trade a clear window to gauge the initial demand ahead of October 15.

The booking announcement comes as “Jailer 2” enters the final stretch of its pre-release campaign. Nelson Dilipkumar’s film released its trailer earlier this week, offering a first extended look at Rajinikanth’s return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The sequel brings back the retired jailer, who is pulled into another conflict with the criminal underworld after his family and legacy come under threat.

The film also has a significant cross-industry ensemble. Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar, who appeared in special appearances in the first “Jailer”, return for the sequel. The cast also includes Vidya Balan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, S.J. Suryah, Jackie Shroff, Mithun Chakraborty, Yogi Babu and Hakkim Shajahan, among others.

Suraj Venjaramoodu’s presence is particularly notable for the Kerala release. The trailer positions his character, Dileep, as a key antagonist in the sequel, while Mohanlal returns as Mathew and Shiva Rajkumar reprises his role as Narasimha. The combination gives “Jailer 2” a strong regional pull beyond its Tamil market, with the Kerala campaign now moving towards a large opening-day rollout.

Anirudh Ravichander returns as composer, continuing his collaboration with Nelson and Rajinikanth after the first “Jailer”. Vijay Kartik Kannan is the cinematographer and R. Nirmal is the editor. Kalanithi Maran is producing the film under the Sun Pictures banner.

The sequel has also completed its certification process. “Jailer 2” has received a U/A 16+ certificate and has an approved runtime of 165 minutes and 18 seconds, making it a little under two hours and 46 minutes.

The Kerala booking schedule comes against the backdrop of an increasingly aggressive final promotional push. Rather than the traditional large-scale audio launch associated with Rajinikanth’s films, the makers have opted for a different route this time, including a three-hour television interview with the superstar ahead of release. The film’s music has also been rolled out ahead of the theatrical opening.
