‘Jailer 2’ Box Office: Rajinikanth-starrer Crosses $1 Million Mark in Overseas Presales Ahead of Worldwide Release
Advance bookings for Rajinikanth-starrer “Jailer 2” have yet to begin in the domestic market, but the action-thriller has made an encouraging start in overseas presales. It has crossed the $1 million mark in international markets, with the United States leading the way, followed by the UAE, the United Kingdom and Australia, and key European territories.
Advance booking momentum is extremely positive, as the film faces enormous expectations after its prequel's blockbuster success.
The next goal for “Jailer 2” will be to beat the benchmark set by Rajinikanth's previous film “Coolie” in overseas markets. The massy actioner opened to approximately $8.75 million. With six days awaited for its grand arrival, it would be interesting to see whether “Jailer 2” trumps the record of “Coolie.”

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the sequel marks Rajinikanth's return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the retired jailer at the center of the 2023 blockbuster “Jailer.” Set for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15, the film has completed certification and is rated UA 16+, with a runtime of 165 minutes.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, it features an ensemble cast of Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff, S. J. Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vijay Sethupathi and Ramya Krishnan, with a cameo by Hrithik Roshan.
With the album composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the editing and cinematography of “Jailer 2” are by R. Nirmal and Vijay Karthik Kannan, respectively.
In addition to Tamil, the film will be released in Hindi (dubbed) in northern India and in Telugu in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
