‘Michael’ on a Roll: Beats ‘Scream 7,’ ‘Blades of the Guardians’ to Become 2026’s Sixth-Highest Grosser
Jaafar Jackson’s “Michael” is turning out to be a record-smasher in its first weekend at the global box office. Despite negative reviews, the biographical musical drama won the audience’s love, as reflected in its box office numbers.
The film grossed $217,365,000 in its first three days and has already emerged as the sixth-highest grosser globally, surpassing “Scream 7” ($213,819,468) and “Blades of the Guardians ($203,403,913).”
It will cross the lifetime business of “Wuthering Heights” ($241,701,072) today to enter the top 5 position in the list.
In the domestic market (USA), the film surpassed “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” ($93M) and “Oppenheimer” ($82 million), marking the biggest opening week for a biopic.

In international markets, with a staggering $120.4 million across 82 overseas circuits, it has dethroned “Oppenheimer” ($98 million) and “Bohemian Rhapsody” ($91.7 million) by a huge margin.
“Michael” has comfortably overtaken “Oppenheimer’s” $180.4 million and “Bohemian Rhapsody’s” $141.7 million, setting a new record for the biopic genre.
In India, it has collected 15.4 crore in its opening weekend, making it the biggest musical biopic in the country.
With a thunderous response across the globe, the audiences are now waiting for its sequel, which was announced during the climax of the film.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, “Michael” also features Juliano Krue Valdi, Nia Long, KeiLyn Durrel Jones, Laura Harrier, Jessica Sula, Mike Myers, Miles Teller and Colman Domingo in key roles.
