Karanvir Bohra Splurges On ‘Deal Toh Pagal Hain’ An Expensive Microdrama For Leading Platform: ‘Minimal Profit Is Fine’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Karanvir Bohra who is quite prolific in the microdrama (vertical format) entertainment category will be seen in “Deal Toh Pagal Hai”, a new series that releases this week. He is not only acting as the main lead but is also producing and directing the series. Geeta Chaudhary is his leading lady. The microdrama is written by Madhavi Bhojwani, who is his partner in Meow Entertainment Studios. He tells Variety India, “Madhavi is the writer of ‘Deal Toh Pagal Hai.’ This is different from the microdramas that revolve around a billionaire CEO or the servant who hits a jackpot and so on. It is one of the first microdramas to be produced at a standard similar to a web series.”

Bohra says that Indian audiences identify more with stories around families than CEOs or tycoons. He says, “has family drama, values, love and friendship. We have a father-son relationship, which has some friction. The father insults the son time and again and situations develop.” 'Deal Toh Pagal Hai' on Bullet is more like a family entertainer as per the actor. He further tells us, "I was one of the first stars from TV to get into production of microdramas. I had directed TV shows before and always felt the need to branch out in other avenues besides acting."

It is a known fact that a producer can gauge his profits only after he makes 10-12 microdramas in a month. Karanvir highlights that money-making is not his prime goal right now. He explains, “We are not making micro-drama for profit, number one. Secondly, there are so many micro-dramas coming in so the competition is intense. We want to give number one quality to viewers. Yes, as a business proposition, as we understand, we should not lose money. Even if we make minimal profit, it's fine but the quality should be top class.” The show is releasing on Bullet microdrama app.

He also says that there will be a rise in the genre of family-oriented microdramas. "Indians love to watch TV together and head to the theatres as a family. I feel people will even watch vertical format together in the next few months," he says.
