BTS’ V Reveals Hearing Issues Amid ARIRANG Tour: ‘I Can Only Hear About 30 Percent’
BTS member V has revealed his health condition concerning his ears in a new livestream. On August 12, following the Baltimore leg of the team’s ARIRANG World Tour, Kim Taehyung (V’s real name) and Jeon Jung Kook turned on a livestream to chat with their fans. The two singers shared how they’ve been dealing with their personal health challenges during the course of their concerts.

V revealed that he has been dealing with hearing loss in his left ear for about two to two and a half years. Comparing his ability, he shared that if it was at 100 percent in his right ear, his left is only at 30 percent. “If I can hear 100 over here (points to right ear), I can only hear about 30 over here (points to left ear),” he shared during the livestream. After having it for a while, the BTS member enlisted in the military, where it got worse and he was made to believe it was a matter of mental strength. However, since getting discharged from the military, he has been going to the hospital regularly. “So I’ve been taking my medication consistently,” said the “Rainy Days” star.

Jung Kook joked that the two had become “hospital members” in the group, for he was also dealing with an inflammation in his shin, which caused him to be careful with his performance. Despite wanting to give his everything, the pain made it difficult for the singer to present his best self.
BTS is currently in the North American portion of their post-military world tour, following which the group will return to Asia towards the end of the year and continue their gigs around the world through 2027.
