“Mirzapur: The Movie,” headlined by Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Divyenndu, has surpassed all expectations, registering a mega opening at the box office on its release day. Despite no major faces or popular music, the film attracted impressive footfall, driven by the popularity of the web show, which has had a successful three-season run. "Mirzapur: The Movie" collected ₹25.15 crore with an average occupancy of 42.7 percent.

For total collections, the Telugu-dubbed version contributed merely ₹0.15 crore, while the original Hindi version did the heavy lifting. With these first-day figures, “Mirzapur: The Movie” has become the fourth-biggest Hindi opener of the year, beating biggies like “Awarapan 2,” “Welcome To The Jungle,” “Bhooth Bangla,” and “Dhamaal 4.”

Top 10 Hindi openers of 2026

‘Dhurandhar 2’: ₹144.55 crore (including paid previews)
‘Toxic’ (Only Hindi version): ₹55 crore
‘Border 2’: ₹30 crore
‘Mirzapur: The Movie’: ₹25.15 crore
‘Awarapan 2’: ₹22 crore
‘Welcome To The Jungle’: ₹19 crore (including paid previews)
‘Bhooth Bangla’: ₹16 crore (including paid previews)
‘Dhamaal 4’: ₹14 crore
‘Cocktail 2’: ₹13.50 crore
‘Alpha’: ₹9.25 crore

While the film's collections may dip marginally today due to the Janmashtami festival, “Mirzapur: The Movie” is expected to post a massive opening weekend total. With no holdover releases to worry about, it is likely to dominate the weekdays as well.

The success of the action-crime thriller has paved the way for other iconic web shows to take a theatrical route and turn a small-screen project into a cinematic spectacle.

The film, directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, also stars Jitendra Kumar, Ravi Kishan, Rasika Dugal, Abhishek Banerjee, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Shweta Tripathi, among others.
