Bengali Film ‘Aajo Ardhangini’ Crosses The ₹1 Crore Mark At The Box Office
National award-winning filmmaker Kaushik Ganguly's latest movie "Aajo Ardhangini" is doing great business at the West Bengal box office. The film, which opened in theatres on July 10 has already crossed the ₹one crore mark, becoming the fourth Bengali movie of 2026 to reach this landmark. The movie has benefitted from positive word-of-mouth with audiences praising the lead actors' performances. The movie is the sequel to the 2023 drama, "Ardhangini.
Navin Choukhani, owner of Kolkata's Navina Cinema, says, "It is doing great business at our theatre. Everyone has loved the movie and people are flocking even for the weekday shows. It is the audience, which is publicizing "Aajo Ardhangini." It is still early to say whether it will cross movies like 'Phool Pishi O Edward,' but this is indeed heartening."

“Aajo Ardhangini” stars Churni Ganguly, Jaya Ahsan and Suman Sen in lead roles. The sequel explores the dynamics between Meghana (Jaya Ahsan) and Shubhra (Churni Ganguly) who meet at a wedding. Audiences are loving the performances from the two actresses who are known as powerhouse performers. Kaushik Ganguly, who has won five National Awards looks all set for another box office hit under his belt. In 2025, his film “Dhumketu”, starring Dev and Subhashree Ganguly made ₹28 crores worldwide (gross).
Distributor Satadeep Saha, SSR Cinemas, says, “The movie is doing well across multiplexes and single screens in the state. It is too early to say whether 2026 is turning out to be a better year for the industry as compared to 2025. We have some big films lined up in the coming months.”
The biggest success of 2026 so far is Abir Chatterjee’s “Saptadingar Guptodhon” directed by Dhrubo Banerjee. The other two films are Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s “Phool Pishi O Edward” and “Vijaynagar’er Hirey” headlined by Bengali superstar, Prosenjit.
