AI Track ‘Chai Ki Tapri’ Creators React as Alia Bhatt, Sharvari Dance to Their Song (EXCLUSIVE)
The song “Chai Ki Tapri,” which was played on “India’s Got Latent” Season 2, has gone viral. It has amassed over 500 million streams across platforms and over one million reels have been made on it. The visuals of Alia Bhatt and Sharvari grooving on it on “India’s Got Latent” Season 2 added to its popularity. It has now become the official song of the series. Sourabh Pateriya, one of the founders of the AI-powered music creation platform that made the song, is over the moon.
He tells Variety India, “I think we all saw how much Alia enjoyed dancing to the song. Even Sharvari shook a leg on the stage. They really vibed to it. And now the whole country is vibing on it. In fact, I just came back from “India's Got Latent” sets and saw even more actors dancing on it. Even Karan Aujla was seen grooving to it. This shows that AI music has come a long way. It has become enjoyable. It can invoke emotions and make people dance. I think that's the testimony of how far AI music has come.”

Pateriya further highlights how such public support helps AI music go mainstream. He shares, “One of the key challenges when we started the company was how can we take it to as many people as possible? This motivation and support that has been coming our way feels good. We know that the majority of music directors in the film industry are already using our platform. And it makes me feel really happy that it's getting adopted at a mass scale.”

Sharing details of the making of the song “Chai Ki Tapri,” he reveals that it was created by Utkarsh, a Soundverse AI user and a resident of Nagpur. The track was performed by rapper Young AJ (Ajay) on “India’s Got Latent’ Season 2. Pateriya shares, “Utkarsh just wanted to make a fun Bollywood kind of track around ‘Chai Ki Tapri,’ so that was his prompt. Samay Raina’s team has been very supportive of the track. They were actually very surprised to hear that it was fully AI.”
The popularity of the song has taken people by surprise. Pateriya believes there is no formula for instant virality. He says, “It was very accidental for us. This is a track people can dance to and has a little bit of cringe value, which resonates with Gen-Z. Also, the fact that Alia Bhatt and Sharvari danced on it along with Samay helped.”
