‘Tu Mil Jaaye’ Song Review: Shah Rukh and Deepika’s Romance In ‘King’s’ First Single Gets An Ed Sheeran Twist With Arijit Singh
The first single from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone-starrer "KING" dropped a little after midnight in time to bring in SRK's birthday (Nov. 2). Titled "Tu Mil Jaaye," it features the vocals of Arijit Singh, Ed Sheeran and Madhubanti Bagchi. The composition by Sachin-Jigar is set to lyrics by Kumaar. The accompanying visualizer was released on YouTube while the song itself was available on all streaming platforms post midnight.
The song opens with SRK delivering a couple of trademark dramatic dialogues: "Main kaatil nahi, aashiq hoon, aur nishana meri mashooqa" and "Woh aashiqi hi kya jo dil cheer na de". Before you know it, Arijit Singh's familiar, instantly catchy vocals kick in and we're transported straight into a romantic musical universe that feels rather familiar.
Iif this video closely resembles "Besharam Rang" and "Jhoome Jo Pathaan" from "Pathaan," it's because it doesn't just repeat the lead pair Khan and Padukone, the director (Siddharth Anand) and the DoP are the same: Satchith Paulose. While the dance moves may also seem "inspired," the truth is Vaibhavi Merchant and Bosco-Caesar have been swapped for Piyush-Shazia.

Arijit gets us grooving, while Deepika Padukone makes a glamorous entrance in orange. And honestly, we'll never say no to another dose of "Besharam Rang" energy. The actress looks every bit the star as she shares romantic moments and dance sequences with Shah Rukh. The chemistry between the two remains the biggest draw, with the song leaning into the kind of sweeping romance that audiences have come to love from this pairing.
But this is "KING", after all, and its leading man isn't just here to woo his lady love. The video offers glimpses of his character's darker, more dangerous side. We see him smuggling guns at a dockyard, dealing with gangsters and knocking down enemies. There is an assassin lurking beneath the romantic exterior, and the action-heavy portions suggest that the film will have plenty of thrills to go with its love story. The younger-looking version of Shah Rukh also makes an appearance, leaving us wondering whether these sequences belong to a flashback or an earlier chapter in his character's life.
Just when you think you've figured out the musical mood, Ed Sheeran enters the picture. Yes, the global pop star's English rap features in the track, with Shah Rukh even lip-syncing to his portions. It's an unexpected addition that gives "Tu Mil Jaaye" a different flavour, although the transition might take a moment to get used to. The song otherwise keeps things peppy, moving between intimate romantic moments, elaborate dance sequences and action-packed visuals.
Both Shah Rukh and Deepika look ravishing throughout, with the superstar also getting a moment to show off his abs. The video wraps up with one more dramatic dialogue from the King himself: "Par is baar dil mein aag lagi hai, ab duniya jalaye bina maanega nahi." And just like that, the romance gives way to a promise of destruction.
Composed by Sachin-Jigar, "Tu Mil Jaaye" features vocals by Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi, along with Ed Sheeran's rap. Kumaar has penned the lyrics, while Sheeran has written the English rap.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, "KING" also stars Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Jaideep Ahlawat and Raghav Juyal, among others. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas worldwide on December 24.
