Sohum Shah has once again sparked curiosity around the highly anticipated sequel to “Tumbbad.” The actor recently shared fan art sent to him by a fan, accompanying the post with a cryptic invitation for his followers to guess what was hidden behind the artwork. While the post has prompted speculation among fans, Variety India has learnt that the sequel is set to expand the world of “Tumbbad” with the introduction of two new characters.
According to an independent source close to the project, both characters have been created specifically for the sequel and are expected to play significant roles in the narrative. The makers are currently keeping their identities and character details tightly under wraps, with plans to reveal more as the film moves closer to its release.

The first Tumbbad, that was co-directed by Adesh Prasad, introduced viewers to the demonic Hastar who became one of the most terrifying creatures in an Indian film. Sources reveal that the follow up will have two new characters who will take the story ahead. In an earlier conversation with Variety India, acclaimed prosthetics and makeup artist Shaun Harrison, who is leading the makeup and prosthetics department on 'Tumbbad 2,' opened up about revisiting the terrifying world of Hastar and the creative challenge of evolving one of Indian horror’s most iconic monsters.
The addition of the two characters signals an expansion of the mythology and storytelling universe established by the first film. While details about the plot of “Tumbbad 2” remain closely guarded, the sequel is expected to build on the world created by the original while taking its story in a new direction.
