Rupali Ganguly on ‘Anupamaa’ Turning 6: ‘I Don’t Take The Audience’s Love For Granted’ (EXCLUSIVE)
Rupali Ganguly’s show “Anupamaa” is one of the biggest success stories from Indian TV in recent times. The show that started airing in 2020 is still in the top five Indian daily serials in terms of viewership. Admitting that the success of the show still feels unbelievable, Rupali Ganguly tells Variety India, “Today, it’s heartwarming to see her dialogues become reels, memes and social media trends. But beyond all the viral moments, what stays with me are the real conversations. Women often come up to me and say, ‘I found courage because of Anupamaa,” or “Her journey felt like my own.’ Those are moments I’ll cherish forever. I am extremely grateful to Rajan Shahi for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play Anupamaa. This character has changed my life in ways I could never have imagined.”

The current track focuses on how Anupamaa is keen to build a home of her own. Ganguly terms the current track as a tribute to her father, late filmmaker Anil Ganguly. She reveals there was a time when she dreamt of buying a home for her family. Unfortunately, she could not fulfill that wish as she purchased her first house after his demise. She says, “Even today, I feel that my home is a tribute to him. Having a place you can truly call your own is a feeling that can’t really be expressed.”
Ganguly credits TV for giving her an identity and forging a deep bond with the audience. She says, “Every day when I come to the set, I feel grateful because very few actors get the chance to play a character that becomes a part of people’s everyday lives. I don’t take that love for granted, and I never will.”
