Rajinikanth’s “Dharman” is on track to complete filming by October, director Ashwath Marimuthu has confirmed. Two schedules of the Tamil action film have already been completed, with the filmmaker describing the superstar’s treatment in the film as having a “Gen-Z vibe.”
“The ‘Dharman’ shoot will be over in October 2026. Two schedules have been completed. Rajinikanth sir is in a Gen-Z vibe, and the film will be a very likeable one. We are having quite some fun,” Marimuthu said.

The director also recalled Rajinikanth standing up whenever Marimuthu approached him. “I asked him why, and he said, ‘It is out of respect for the craft and the director,’” Marimuthu said.
The filmmaker has previously described working on “Dharman” as a responsibility, given the combination of Rajinikanth as the star and Kamal Haasan as producer. The film marks Marimuthu’s first collaboration with Rajinikanth.
Marimuthu also confirmed that his next film with Silambarasan TR is scheduled to begin production in February 2027. The project, tentatively referred to as “STR51,” will follow “Dharman,” with Silambarasan expected to complete “Arasan” before moving on to the new collaboration.
For now, “Dharman” has completed two schedules and is targeting an October shoot wrap. The film brings together Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Marimuthu in a collaboration that spans different generations of Tamil cinema.
