Priyanka Chopra Confirms Nature of Mandakini Role in ‘Varanasi’: ‘I Do So Many Amazing Slow Motion Jumps’
Priyanka Chopra is the female lead of the Indian auteur SS Rajamouli’s upcoming release, Varanasi. Starring alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, the Telugu project is one of the most awaited releases in 2027. Talking about it to her husband and his two brothers on their podcast, Hey Jonas!, she appeared really excited.
In the clip shared on the Jonas Brothers YouTube channel, the actress speaks about her next projects, including what she has been shooting as of now. Nick Jonas delves into his ever-growing interests in the Indian film industry, which not just includes Hindi but also Telugu cinema, for which the 43-year-old is making her debut in the coming year.

Talking about it, she says, “It’s a Telugu movie. South Indian. I've been working on it for almost 14 months now. But this filmmaker, his name is SS Rajamouli, is known to take that kind of time to make movies. His last film was called ‘RRR’.” She goes on to say how Joe Jonas enjoyed the film and talked to her about it.
Recalling the time she was reached out to, she adds, “He called me for this movie and it's called ‘Varanasi’ and it's this epic, adventure around the world and time and it's taken a minute, but I'm very excited about it. It comes out in April 2027.”

The group discusses how much of a badass the actress is, and she reveals some details about her character, Mandakini, “I do so many amazing slow-motion jumps, and that's all I can say.” It shows how most elements of the project have been kept under wraps as filming continues around the world. With a lot of production being done at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, India, the crew has also toured Odisha, Antarctica and Kenya.
