Prabhas’ ‘Spirit’ Reportedly Pushed Beyond March 2027 as Release Plans Shift
By Sakshi Navare,
Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s “Spirit” is reportedly set to miss its scheduled March 5, 2027 theatrical release, with the makers now looking at a later window for the action drama. The development comes amid a potential reshuffle in Prabhas’ release calendar, with the actor’s period action film “Fauzi” also reportedly moving out of its previously planned December 2026 slot.
“Spirit” will not arrive in cinemas on its previously announced date, and the makers are considering an alternative release window. No revised date has been announced, and the specific reasons behind the reported postponement remain unclear.
The March 5 date had been publicly confirmed by the makers earlier this year, following speculation about a possible delay. In August, Vanga reiterated that the film would release as scheduled, saying that the team had completed a 40 day shooting schedule, with another 65 days of filming remaining. The latest report suggests that the release plan may have changed since that confirmation, although an official announcement is still awaited.

“Spirit” marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Vanga, who last directed “Animal”, starring Ranbir Kapoor. The film is backed by Bhushan Kumar’s T Series in association with Bhadrakali Pictures. Vanga is writing, editing and directing the project, which is being mounted as a large scale action drama intended for release in eight languages.
Prabhas plays a police officer in the film, which also stars Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj in key roles. The first look, released at the end of 2025, introduced the actor in a rugged, bruised avatar, with Dimri appearing alongside him. The film has since remained one of the most closely tracked projects on the actor’s upcoming slate.
The change also comes as Prabhas’ other projects undergo scheduling adjustments. “Fauzi”, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, was initially expected to release in December 2026 but is now reportedly targeting March 18, 2027. If that date is retained, the two films would be positioned close together, potentially requiring a rethink of the actor’s release calendar.
Prabhas’ upcoming slate also includes “The Raja Saab”, “Kalki 2898 AD Part 2” and “Salaar Part 2”. With several large scale productions in the pipeline, the timing of each release is likely to remain under scrutiny as filming and post production progress.
For now, “Spirit” has no officially announced replacement date. Until the makers confirm a change, the reported postponement should be treated as an update that remains unverified by the production team.
