Nawazuddin Siddiqui Set To Debut In Punjabi Cinema; Sonam Bajwa In Talks To Star Opposite Him (EXCLUSIVE)

Nawazuddin Siddiqui who won over audiences with his performances in “Bajrangi Bhaijaan,” “Badlapur,” “Gangs Of Wasseypur” franchise and many other films, will be making his debut in Punjabi films.

After featuring in the Tamil “Petta” and the Telugu movie “Saindhav,” Nawaz is now entering the Punjabi film industry. Variety India has exclusively learned that the actor is making his Punjabi debut as the lead in a Gippy Grewal-backed project.

Popular Punjabi actress Sonam Bajwa, who has featured in Hindi movies like “Border 2,” “Housefull 5,” “Baaghi 4” and “Ek Deewane ki Deewaniyat,” is in talks to star opposite Siddiqui in this untitled project.

On the work front, Siddiqui is currently busy with multiple projects, with “Tumbbad 2” being the highly-anticipated one. The second part carries forward the folklore of the Goddess who represented material wealth and fertility.

The film also sees Sohum Shah along with Alia Bhatt. While “Tumbbad” was helmed by Rahi Anil Barve, the second part is directed by Adesh Prasad. The first part ended with Vinayak Rao (Sohum Shah) transforming into a monster, and his son Pandurang (Mohammad Samad) had to kill him after they managed to get the gold. The plot and story details of the upcoming part have been kept under wraps.

Apart from this film, Siddiqui also has other films lines up for release, including director Rashik Khan’s “Section 108”, co-starring Regina Cassandra and Aasif Khan, Navaniat Singh’s “Noorani Chehra” featuring Jassie Gill, Aasif Khan, Nupur Sanon, Sonnalli Seygall and director Jaideep Chopra’s “Sangeen” alongside Elnaaz Norouzi.
