Mohit Suri Eyes ‘Satranga’ Title For Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda’s Reunion Film (EXCLUSIVE)

Following the blockbuster success of "Saiyaara," Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda are reuniting with director Mohit Suri for another love story under the banner of Yash Raj Films. While the studio officially announced the project last week, Variety India has now exclusively learned that Mohit Suri could be eyeing “Satranga” as the title as a first choice.

“Satranga” remains a working title for now, but whether they will get the title remains to be seen because the title is registered with T- Series. The title closely aligns with the film's narrative, described as a twisted musical romantic drama. The title reminds one of Arijit Singh's popular love ballad from Ranbir Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna's “Animal(2023).”

Ahaan and Aneet, who won millions of hearts with their mesmerizing onscreen pairing in "Saiyaara," will be exploring a more layered and unconventional portrayal of romance with this film. The director is currently working on the final draft of the script and is expected to kick off shooting by the end of this year, targeting a late 2027 release. Both actors will finish their prior projects before moving to their much-awaited reunion. Ahaan is presently shooting for Ali Abbas Zafar's action romance, while Aneet is filming for Maddock Films' “Shakti Shalini,” the next chapter in the banner's horror-comedy universe.

“Saiyaara” emerged as the biggest romantic film at the box office last year, and the team is hoping to recreate the same magic with their latest reunion. YRF CEO Akshaye Widhwani described this second collaboration as “more honest, more vulnerable and more enduring,” while announcing the film, and aims to make a film that lingers long after the screen fades to black.

“Satranga” is the latest addition to YRF's upcoming streamlined lineup. The Aditya Chopra-led company has lately been restructuring its Spy Universe following the disastrous performance of “War 2” and has only Alia Bhatt and Sharvari-starrer “Alpha” lined up for release this year. The banner is also co-producing Hrithik Roshan's “Krrish 4," but the film's production timeline remains uncertain.
