The animated movie, “K-Pop Demon Hunters” on Netflix amassed close to 680 million views globally since its release in 2025. The viewership was 325.1 million views in the 90 days. Maggie Kang directed the movie, which was straight released on the global streaming platform. The singalong version also made around USD 19 million in the first two days of its release in the US.
Netflix is planning a “big, broad, global” theatrical release for the sequel, which is expected in 2029. This was revealed by Netflix’s co-CEO, Ted Sarandos at Bloomberg’s Screentime Wednesday night. Some of the big movies that are expected soon on Netflix include titles like “La Bola Negra,” “Mosquito Bowl,” “The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth,” Danny Boyle’s “Ink” and Greta Gerwig’s “Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew.”

Sarandos said, “We’re going to do a big wide release for 'Narnia' next year, and then we’ll do a big wide release for 'Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory' at the end of the year. We think they’ll do great, and when the 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' sequel comes, you can expect a very broad theatrical release.”
He also spoke about what would the streaming giant consider success for a film, which was first released in theaters, saying, “It won’t be tied to the P&L itself, relatively low expectations that will add much to the financial outcome of the film itself.”

He added, “If you’re gonna say, pick a little risk to the Netflix performance, it should have the potential for a very big upside in the theater. So, for 'Narnia', for 'K-Pop Demon Hunters', that’s why they’re gonna get big, broad, global release. But I think in the other ones where it’s kind of in the middle, that’s where it gets tougher.”
