Rajinikanth’s “Jailer 2” has crossed the ₹200 crore mark at the worldwide box office within two days of its theatrical release. The Nelson Dilipkumar directorial, which opened in cinemas on October 15, collected an estimated ₹35.60 crore net in India on its second day, Friday, October 16. According to Sacnilk, the film’s cumulative worldwide gross now stands at ₹209.10 crore, making it the fastest Tamil film of 2026 to reach the milestone.
The achievement also makes “Jailer 2” the fourth Tamil film released in 2026 to enter the ₹200 crore worldwide gross club, following “Jana Nayagan”, “Karuppu” and “Vishwanath and Sons”. It is also the 20th Indian film of the year to cross the milestone across languages, according to Sacnilk’s tracking. The film’s rapid entry into the club puts it among the year’s biggest theatrical performers, although its eventual standing will depend on how it holds through the coming days.
‘Jailer 2’ Box Office Collection Day 2
On Friday, “Jailer 2” earned ₹35.60 crore net across 13,157 shows in India, registering a 40.4% decline from its opening-day collection of ₹59.70 crore. The film’s two-day domestic net total has reached ₹95.30 crore, while its India gross stands at ₹112.10 crore.

The overseas market has contributed significantly to the film’s performance. “Jailer 2” collected an estimated ₹40 crore in overseas gross on its second day, taking its cumulative overseas gross to ₹97 crore. Combined with its domestic business, this brings the worldwide gross to ₹209.10 crore.
The Tamil version remained the biggest contributor to Friday’s domestic collections, earning ₹25.25 crore net. The Telugu version added ₹7.25 crore, followed by the Hindi version at ₹2.75 crore and the Kannada version at ₹35 lakh.
Despite the decline from Thursday, the film has crossed ₹100 crore in India gross and ₹200 crore worldwide within its first two days. Its India net collection is now approaching the ₹100 crore mark.
‘Jailer 2’ Among the Biggest Tamil Grossers of 2026
The sequel’s worldwide total places it alongside the leading Tamil releases of the year. However, reaching the ₹200 crore mark quickly does not automatically make it the year’s highest-grossing Tamil film. “Jailer 2” will need to sustain its collections beyond the opening rush to challenge the final totals of the films already ahead of it.
Its second-day performance also highlights the importance of overseas business to its early run. With overseas gross collections reaching ₹97 crore in two days, international markets have accounted for a substantial share of its worldwide earnings.
The next major indicator will be the film’s Saturday collection. A weekend recovery in India could strengthen its prospects after Friday’s drop, while its overseas performance will remain crucial to its worldwide total.
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, “Jailer 2” sees Rajinikanth return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The film also features Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vidya Balan, S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty and Suraj Venjaramoodu, alongside appearances by several prominent stars. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music.
