‘Ramayana’ 3D Trailer Gets CBFC Clearance, to Play in Cinemas Next Week
The world of “Ramayana: Rise of a Legend” is set to reach cinema audiences in a new format. The 3D trailer of Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic has received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and is expected to begin playing in theatres next week, ahead of the film’s November 5 release. The development marks another step in the makers’ push to position the Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash-starrer as a large-scale theatrical spectacle for audiences in India and overseas.
According to Mid-Day, the 3D trailer runs for 2 minutes and 26 seconds and was cleared by the CBFC on October 15. The theatrical rollout is intended to give audiences an early look at the film’s immersive visual presentation before its release.
A source cited by the publication said that the 3D format is central to director Nitesh Tiwari’s vision and the film’s international strategy, with IMAX expected to play an important role in the theatrical push.

The makers are reportedly targeting approximately 9,000 screens in India and more than 50,000 screens in international markets. These are reported targets, rather than confirmed final screen counts.
The film’s international ambitions have been reflected in its promotional campaign, including its appearance at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this year and the involvement of composer Hans Zimmer. The film is also reported to be planned for release in 40 languages, underscoring the scale of its intended global reach.
The 3D trailer’s theatrical rollout could help familiarise audiences with the film’s visual world on the big screen before its release. For a production drawing on one of India’s most recognisable epics, the presentation format is also part of the larger effort to make the spectacle accessible to audiences beyond its home market.
“Ramayana: Rise of a Legend” stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Directed by Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on November 5.
