‘Jailer 2’: Nelson Dilipkumar Reveals Rajinikanth Has Just 3 People in His Entourage, Says ‘One of Them Is Him’
Rajinikanth may be one of Indian cinema’s biggest superstars, but his approach to work is far removed from the grand arrivals and entourages often associated with stardom. Director Nelson Dilipkumar, who has worked with the actor on “Jailer” and its upcoming sequel, “Jailer 2,” recently shared how the veteran star’s understated presence on set continues to surprise those around him.
Speaking about Rajinikanth’s minimal entourage, Nelson revealed that the actor keeps his team remarkably small, even by the standards of the film industry. “Of all the people I have worked with, he is the person who arrives on sets with the least number of staff. They tease him at least five times a day, and he mostly spends quality time with them... His team comprises three people... and one of them is him,” the filmmaker said.

Nelson also spoke about how Rajinikanth spends time with the people around him on set, rather than maintaining a distance often associated with a star of his stature. According to the director, the actor is frequently teased by the crew, sometimes at least five times a day, and is happy to spend quality time with them.
“There’s absolutely zero fanfare or hype when he comes to set. Everyone is usually waiting anxiously for the star to arrive on set in a grand way. But with Rajinikanth sir, we’d suddenly look back and find him silently doing something... he’d have arrived ages ago and we wouldn’t even have known,” Nelson recalled.
