‘Gandhi And My Mother’: Makers Unveil New Glimpses Of Manoj Bajpayee And Waheeda Rehman’s Film On Gandhi Jayanti
By Sakshi Navare,
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the makers of “Gandhi And My Mother” have unveiled a series of new stills from the period drama featuring Manoj Bajpayee and Waheeda Rehman.
In the pictures, Bajpayee’s striking transformation into Mahatma Gandhi takes centre stage. Based on a lesser-known 21-day chapter in the life of the Father of the Nation during India’s independence, the film explores a deeply personal and human dimension of the historical figure.
Director Sudhir Mishra previously described the story in a statement, saying, “This new film focuses on the 21 days in the life of Mahatma Gandhi during India’s independence. At a time when the nation was stepping into freedom, and Delhi was becoming the center of power, Gandhi made an unexpected choice: he chose to walk away. But by walking away, he did not retreat. He reinvented himself. While history books record the surface events of that era, this story explores what lay beneath that famous choice and will depict the personal journey of a leader redefining his path.”
