Ajay Devgn’s “Drishyam: The Conclusion” has taken a phenomenal opening with its morning shows at the box office. Driven by the franchise value and the star power of its leading man, the third installment has benefited significantly from the Gandhi Jayanti national holiday.

Despite not being a conventional commercial entertainer, the film has opened well beyond expectations and is now eyeing the second-biggest opening of the year after Ranveer Singh’s “Dhurandhar 2” in the Hindi market.

The film is also challenging the biggest releases in the Mumbai circuit with its massive initial numbers and could emerge as the biggest first-day grosser in the financial capital.

The film had already recorded strong numbers in pre-sales, registering the fourth-biggest advance booking after “Dhurandhar 2” (₹34.5 crore), Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan” (₹28.75 crore) and Allu Arjun’s “Pushpa 2” (₹28 crore). It had raked in around ₹27 crore before its first show even began.

With this, it has surpassed biggies such as “KGF: Chapter 2,” “Pathaan,” “Animal,” and “Toxic,” registering one of the biggest advances for a Hindi film.

The record-breaking start is a huge bonus for the film, as unlike several of the aforementioned big-budget releases, “Drishyam: The Conclusion” has been made on a comparatively modest budget. The makers also didn’t spend much on marketing, as it had immense buzz and awareness among cinegoers thanks to its promotional assets.

While the film is likely to be Devgn’s biggest opener, it could also emerge as the actor’s highest-grosser of all time, depending on word of mouth.

Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the film also features Jaideep Ahlawat, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav in prominent roles. It is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, Ajit Andhare and Alok Jain under their banners, Panorama Studios and Star Studio18.
