‘Dhamaal 4’ Box Office: The Adventure Comedy Becomes Ajay Devgn’s Eighth Biggest Opener; Beats ‘Tanhaji’ and ‘Bol Bachchan’
“Dhamaal 4,” headlined by Ajay Devgn, which released yesterday (July 10), has surpassed expectations, earning ₹14 crore on its first day. Despite a normal Friday release, the latest installment of the comedy franchise has got a good start and emerged as Devgn’s eighth-biggest opener of all time, surpassing “Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero” and “Bol Bachchan.”

Interestingly, ‘Dhamaal 4” also turned out to be the fifth biggest Hindi opener of the year after “Dhurandhar 2” (₹115 crore including paid previews), “Border 2” (₹29.5 crore), “Welcome To The Jungle” (₹18.75 crore, including paid previews) and Bhooth Bangla (₹15 crore, including paid previews).

Positive word of mouth, weekend and weekday hold and competition from holdover releases will play a key role in shaping the box-office prospects of “Dhamaal 4.” However, the opening day numbers have definitely set an encouraging baseline for the film. Based on the current scenario, the film has a good chance of hitting the ₹45-₹50 crore mark in its first weekend, giving it a strong chance of emerging as a clean hit.
However, the movie has only one week to dominate the ticket windows, as the arrival of Christopher Nolan’s much-awaited “The Odyssey” next Friday will grab all the screens, especially the multiplexes in Tier-1 cities.
Directed by Indra Kumar, the movie also features an ensemble cast of Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Jaaved Jaaferi, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Upendra Limaye, Anjali Anand, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Esha Gupta and Vijay Patkar.
