Conan O’Brien To Return As Oscars Host In 2027 For A Third Time

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has officially confirmed that Conan O’Brien will return to host the 99th Oscars on March 14, 2027. This marks O'Brien's third consecutive year at the helm, a rare streak of consistency for Hollywood's biggest night. Returning alongside him are executive producers Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan, marking their fourth straight year producing the global telecast.

Expressing their enthusiasm for the continued partnership, Academy CEO Bill Kramer and President Lynette Howell Taylor say, "We are thrilled to be working again with Conan, Raj, Katy, Jeff and Mike for the 99th Oscars. They are an incredible team and have produced such captivating, entertaining and heartfelt shows over the last two years. We are so grateful for their ongoing partnership as we honor our global film community — and we look forward to Conan superbly leading the celebration with his brilliance and humor."

The 2027 ceremony will once again be held at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood. Craig Erwich, President of Disney Television Group, praised the host's impact on the event's atmosphere. "Conan has created remarkable energy around the Oscars. His singular comedic voice makes Hollywood’s biggest night one of the most entertaining celebrations of the year. We’re proud to welcome him back and look forward to what he and the producing team deliver next," Erwich says. 

Producers Kapoor and Mullan also emphasized the strength of their collaboration with the host. They described O'Brien as a "true creative partner" who brings a "real warmth and generosity that carry through the entire show," making the complex production process "genuinely fun, both behind the scenes and on stage."

With this third consecutive appearance, O’Brien enters the record books as the first person to host three years in a row since Billy Crystal achieved the feat over thirty years ago. In the history of the Academy Awards, only two others have managed such a streak: Bob Hope, who had two separate four-year runs, and Johnny Carson, who solo-hosted four years straight from 1979 to 1982.
