Here is everything announced at BlumFest.

‘The Exorcist: Martyrs’ Trailer Unveiled

Mike Flanagan and Chiwetel Ejiofor presented the first trailer for “The Exorcist: Martyrs”, which is scheduled to release in US theatres on March 12, 2027.

Scarlett Johansson plays Julie Miller, a New York City detective whose investigation into a new killer draws her back into a case she believed was behind her. Ejiofor also stars, alongside Jacobi Jupe, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.

Flanagan said the film would take the franchise in a different direction while retaining its central ambition of frightening audiences. The filmmaker is writing and directing the new instalment.

‘River’ Sets January 2027 Release

“River”, directed by Joshua Giuliano and starring Jessica Rothe and Jane Levy, is scheduled to arrive in US theatres on January 15, 2027. Rothe discussed the physical demands of the production, revealing that 14 of the film’s 22 shooting days were spent on the water. The presentation also featured an exclusive preview of the thriller.

‘The Revenge of La Llorona’ Gets A Release Date

“The Revenge of La Llorona” is set to release on February 26, 2027. Directed by Santiago Menghini and written by Sean Tretta, the supernatural horror film centres on the vengeful folkloric figure La Llorona and a dysfunctional family caught in her path.

Anything But Ghosts’ Arrives In May

Curry Barker and Cooper Tomlinson appeared at BlumFest to discuss “Anything But Ghosts”, Barker’s follow-up to “Obsession”. The horror comedy follows two fame-seeking, wannabe ghost hunters whose scheme spirals out of control when they find themselves dealing with something beyond their ability to fake.

Barker directs and co-wrote the film with Tomlinson, who also stars. The cast includes Violet McGraw, Chris Reinacher, Bryce Dallas Howard and Aaron Paul. “Anything But Ghosts” is scheduled for a US theatrical release on May 7, 2027.

‘Paranormal Activity’ Returns In 2027

The next “Paranormal Activity” film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on May 21, 2027. Ian Tuason, director of “Undertone”, is directing the new instalment.

Jason Blum reflected on the franchise’s importance to the company, explaining that the original film played a significant role in building Blumhouse. James Wan’s involvement helped bring the new entry together after the series had spent an extended period away from theatres.

‘Molepeople’ Reveals LaKeith Stanfield As Its Star

Rob Savage’s “Molepeople” was among the projects spotlighted at the event, with LaKeith Stanfield announced as its star alongside Ben Mendelsohn. The subterranean horror film is described as a story involving a secret society beneath New York City.

Savage said he wanted to make a frightening underground horror film in the tradition of “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” and “The Hills Have Eyes”. “Molepeople” is scheduled for release on August 27, 2027.

‘The Blair Witch Project’ Reboot Sets September Date

The new “Blair Witch Project” film is scheduled to release on September 24, 2027. Dylan Clark is directing the new iteration of the found-footage horror franchise, with original filmmakers Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez attached as executive producers. The project revisits the franchise that helped popularise found-footage horror after the original film became a major cultural phenomenon.

‘Sleepover’ And ‘Seasons’ Join The 2027 Slate

Jacob Chase’s “Sleepover” is scheduled for October 8, 2027. The film has been described as a sleepover nightmare, with further story details remaining under wraps.

James Wan also discussed “Seasons”, a horror project directed by Drew Hancock, the filmmaker behind “Companion”. Based on “Old Country”, a story by Matt and Harrison Query published through the NoSleep horror community, the project unfolds across four seasons. Lily James and Jack Reynor are attached to star, and the project has been reported as a Prime Video series. It is scheduled for November 12, 2027.

Craig Zobel To Direct ‘Something Is Killing The Children’

Craig Zobel has been tapped to direct the live-action adaptation of “Something Is Killing the Children”, the horror comic created by James Tynion IV and Werther Dell’Edera. The story follows Erica Slaughter, a monster hunter who investigates creatures preying on children. The project is expected to begin filming in 2027, although no release date has been announced.

‘Amanda The Adventurer’ Gets A Film Adaptation

Blumhouse announced a feature-film adaptation of “Amanda the Adventurer”, the indie horror video game developed by MANGLEDmaw Games and published by DreadXP.

The project is part of a partnership with Matthew Patrick, better known as MatPat, to develop films inspired by independent games and horror properties. A teaser was shown during the presentation, but a writer and director have not yet been announced.

Heidi Wong To Develop A Horror Short

Horror creator Heidi Wong announced a writing and directing project with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster. The short film will draw inspiration from Eastern mythology and folklore. The studio indicated that the short could potentially be developed into a feature film, although further details about its story and production timeline were not disclosed.

‘RoboCop’ Series And ‘Saw’ Sequel Discussed

James Wan also spoke about the “RoboCop” series in development for Amazon Prime Video, with original screenwriter Edward Neumeier involved and Dan Stevens attached to play the titular character.

Wan discussed the next “Saw” instalment, with Mike P. Nelson attached to direct. He highlighted Nelson’s approach to suspense, twists and moral dilemmas, elements that have been central to the franchise. These projects were discussed as developments in the studios’ wider genre slate, rather than as additional dated releases in Blumhouse’s 2027 theatrical calendar.

‘Happy Death Day’ Comic Series Announced

Blumhouse and IDW Dark announced a “Happy Death Day” comic series written by Tim Seeley. The project will expand the time-loop slasher franchise into comics, exploring its mystery beyond the films. The announcement adds to Blumhouse’s efforts to extend its horror properties across different formats, alongside its growing interest in adaptations of video games and stories originating online.
