The 20th season of the Hindi version of “Bigg Boss” premieres September 6 with Salman Khan returning as the host of the series. 2026 also marks two decades of the reality TV show that has now cumulatively seen 65+ seasons in Hindi and other regional languages.
This year, the reality show returns across six languages. And after a decade-long gap, “Bigg Boss Bangla” returns with Sourav Ganguly taking over as the host. On this occasion, JioHotstar and EndemolShine India have released a coffee table book with figures showing the reach of “Bigg Boss” on TV and streaming platforms.
Bigger Than The Biggest
The total reach of the show across all languages is above 500 million. And the number of viewing minutes people spend on watching it cumulates to 438 billion. If all “BB” viewers came together at one spot, they could form the world’s third-largest nation. In a nutshell, it is bigger than all other reality shows put together with the watch-time on JioHotstar being 1.5x times higher.
Along with the one-hour episode that is telecast every night, there is also a live feed of “Bigg Boss,” 24x7 on JioHotstar. It runs seven days a week for 100 days straight, which adds up to 2,400+ hours of non-stop content in one season. The total reach is 60 million with total viewing minutes of 19 billion. Six out of 10 “Bigg Boss” viewers watch the show 24x7.

Talking about online interactions, the JioHotstar App has 40 million plus participants, with 9.32 billion votes with live chats totaling to 43 million. From urban cities to tier-one towns, semi-urban and rural areas, “Bigg Boss” has a fanbase that spreads over the length and breadth of the nation. Salman Khan’s popularity has also helped it travel across the Hindi-speaking belt. The total reach is 200 million viewers with over 122 billion minutes of total viewing. The time spent on “Bigg Boss” is 30 per cent higher than any other show.
On the JioHotstar app alone, viewers spend over 55 per cent of their time watching “Bigg Boss Hindi.”

‘Bigg Boss’: South Indian Favorite
Some of South India’s top stars like Vijay Sethupathi, Mohanlal, Nagarjuna and Kiccha Sudeepa are hosts of the show in 2026 for the Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada versions respectively. The total reach is over 300 million in viewership while the viewing minutes add up to 270 billion. Eight out of 10 viewers choose Bigg Boss over any South Indian show while engagement on JioHotstar is 3.5x higher than any other South Indian reality show.

Gen-Z Hooked!
One out of two viewers are under the age of 40. “Bigg Boss Hindi” has seen 12 per cent growth in Gen-Z audience on TV. Around 40 per cent of this category belongs to the affluent high-income group.
