‘Vishwanath & Sons’, ‘Jana Nayagan’ Become First Two Tamil Films In 2026 To Cross 10 Million Views On Streaming

As per Ormax StreamView, the first two Tamil movies of 2026 to cross 10 million views on streaming platforms are “Vishwanath And Sons” and “Jana Nayagan.” While Suriya and Mamitha Baiju’s family entertainer is available on Netflix, “Jana Nayagan” had its premiere on Zee 5. After “Karuppu,” Suriya was back as a single parent in “Vishwanath And Sons,” which was directed by Venky Atluri. Both his 2026 films have crossed the Rs 200-crore mark in theaters. “Karuppu” is available for viewing on Prime Video. Netflix acquired “Vishwanath And Sons” for a sum of close to ₹85 crore. 

“Jana Nayagan” the swansong film of Thalapathy Vijay who has quit showbiz for politics got a massive response when it came on streaming. It was in the top five of the Ormax StreamView charts when it was released on digital. Thalapathy Vijay who has assumed the chair of Tamil Nadu’s chief minister plays Vetri Kondan in the movie. He is shown as a former cop who becomes the guardian of his deceased friend’s daughter while fighting corrupt politics and an international antagonist. The film was sold to the platform for an estimated ₹60 crore. 

“Jana Nayagan” had initial plans to release in theaters in January 2026 but got delayed due to CBFC related issues and some court cases. 

In the past, most of Thalapathy Vijay’s films like “Beast,” “Leo,” “Mersal,” “Sarkar” and “The Greatest Of All Time” came on Netflix.
