Vikram Singh Chauhan On Working With Mrunal Thakur in ‘Pooja Meri Jaan’ And Why He Has Stayed Away From Reality Shows (EXCLUSIVE)
Vikram Singh Chauhan will be seen with Mrunal Thakur and Huma Qureshi in “Pooja Meri Jaan,” which releases on October 2. In the trailer, Chauhan’s character is of a young man who dies by suicide and Mrunal Thakur aka Pooja faces the legal consequences. In a chat with Variety India, he says, “I found the script very relevant. I think it will start a conversation on consent, rejection and what point do people need to draw boundaries. All these questions form the crux of the story. It is very relevant in the current social milieu.”
Chauhan who has been the main lead of successful TV shows like “Jaana Na Dil Se Door,” “Ek Deewaana Tha,” and “Yeh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka!,” has been working across mediums. After working in “Mardaani 2” and “Kesari,” the actor has done a number of web series like “Rudra: The Edge Of Darkness,” (2022), “Raat Jaawan Hai” (2024) and TVF’s “Sena: Guardians Of The Nation” (2025). He shares, “If acting is your passion, the difficulties in the journey does not matter. You just follow the process and not bother much about the final outcome. In this process, we try to put in our best efforts. An actor needs to work on his core skills and also on his patience. If you do not stay patient there is a lot of struggle in this field.”

In 2026, he was also seen on a TV show, “Do Duniye Ek Dil,” that also starred Rachi Sharma. Speaking about his few outings on TV in the recent past, he shares, “I think it is the absence of good and relevant stories. I just want projects that excite me. Money is not that much of a deciding factor. I love the fact that you get a lot of time to prepare when it comes to web and film. As an actor, working on a bound script brings a different kind of joy.”
He admits he has been a fan of Mrunal Thakur since “Love Sonia.” Chauhan further says, “When I was on set with her, I realized there is so much to learn from her as a person. She is a very genuine person and takes care of her team in a wonderful manner. On days when we did not shoot, we would go for dinners. Her entire team would come with her and she would ensure everyone had a good time.”

The actor debunks the idea that Indian TV shows have seen a downgrade. He feels there is an oversaturation of content on all platforms. “We are flooded with shows whether it is OTT or films. You have to be really smart in choosing your projects,” he quips. Speaking about competition especially from star kids, he feels self-pity holds no actual meaning. He opines, “Nepotism holds true for many industries. I have been an actor for a decade and noticed that if you are good, casting directors will seek you. I believe that putting in your best attracts the best. I don't want to discuss film stars or their children. They get the best. They have a lineage. If I have a business or something, obviously it will be easier for my child. So, why are we blaming star kids or people from industry for that matter? I think it's a very wrong conversation to have.”
He also addresses why he has been away from the captive reality show space, saying, “I am not courageous enough to be honest. Like ‘Bigg Boss,’ I cannot openly share my personal life. I am not that person. Maybe I can do “Khatron Ke Khiladi,” because the adrenaline rush seems fun.”
