‘Tumm Se Tumm Tak’ Producer Prateek Sharma Overwhelmed As Show Overtakes ‘Anupamaa’; Praises Sharad Kelkar and Niharika Chouksey (EXCLUSIVE)
A romantic drama with a difference, “Tumm Se Tumm Tak” has overtaken names like “Anupamaa,” and “Naagin 7” on the TRP charts. It marked the comeback of Sharad Kelkar on a daily soap after a long time. Opposite him is actress Niharika Chouksey who plays the 20-year-old Anu Sharma. In an exclusive chat with Variety India, producer Prateek Sharma expressed his happiness. He told us, “I am indeed overjoyed seeing how well the viewers have responded to the show. My daily soaps for Zee TV have always done well and “Tumm Se Tumm Tak” has surprised everyone.”

When the promos came, many people debated over the casting of Sharad Kelkar and Niharika Chouksey. The two have an age gap of 29 years between them. “This was the requirement of the story. I knew that I wanted only Sharad Bhai (Sharad Kelkar) for this serial. He has brought the depth, angst and intensity needed for the character of Aryavardhan. Even I feel Niharika (Chouksey) has done her best and now I cannot imagine anyone other than these two in those roles,” he says.
Prateek Sharma has been in the industry for 16 years. He is one of the producers who has experimented with multi-genre serials. “I have tried to be different with my story lines and concepts. Some of them clicked, some did not. However, I was quite confident about ‘Tumm Se Tumm Tak,” he opines.
The IPL season will start soon and TRPs of all serials will see a dip. This is common every season. So, how does he plan to sustain the ratings? “Organic story-telling with no knee-jerk plot twists or sequences. People like the show as it is relatable and we cannot dilute its essence,” he says.
