‘Toxic’ Gets ‘A’ Certificate for English Version; Yash Starrer to Hit Select Indian Screens Tomorrow
Yash’s “Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown Ups” has been given an adults only certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification for its English language version, which is set to release in select major Indian metro cities tomorrow, September 4, 2026.
According to the CBFC certificate dated September 1, 2026, the English version has been cleared with an “A” certificate by the Board’s Bengaluru regional office. The film has been certified for theatrical exhibition in colour and 2D, with English subtitles.
The certified runtime of the English version stands at 176 minutes and 52 seconds, or 2 hours, 56 minutes and 52 seconds. The applied runtime following modifications is listed at 175 minutes and 58 seconds.

The CBFC has directed a handful of modifications before granting certification. Statutory warnings related to smoking and the use of psychotropic substances have been inserted at the beginning of the film and after the interval. Certain instances of profanity have also been muted or replaced, with corresponding changes made to the English subtitles. The film was examined by a five member committee before being cleared for adult audiences.
The certification follows the film’s positioning as a mature, adult oriented gangster drama. Despite the fairy tale imagery in its title, “Toxic” explores a considerably darker world and has been mounted as one of the biggest and most ambitious projects in contemporary Indian cinema.
The English version is particularly significant given the scale of the production. “Toxic” was simultaneously shot in English alongside its Indian language versions, making it one of the rare major Indian productions to be mounted directly in English rather than simply dubbed for international markets.
The English language cut has been positioned as part of the film’s larger international ambitions. Its limited theatrical rollout in India will give audiences in select metropolitan markets an opportunity to watch the English version on the big screen.
Directed and co written by Geetu Mohandas, “Toxic” stars Yash alongside Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth and Akshay Oberoi. The gangster drama is produced by Venkat K. Narayana’s KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The English version will begin its limited theatrical rollout across select metropolitan markets in India from September 4, 2026.
