‘The Big Bang Theory’ Star Kunal Nayyar Loves to ‘Go on GoFundMe at Night and Just Pay Random Families’ Medical Bills’: ‘That’s My Masked Vigilante Thing’
“The Big Bang Theory” star Kunal Nayyar, who became a household name playing the role of Raj Koothrappali on all 12 seasons of the show, reveals that he regularly uses GoFundMe to anonymously donate money to families financially struggling with medical bills.
“Money has given me greater freedom and the greatest gift is the ability to give back, to change people’s lives,” Nayyar shared in an interview with The i Paper in December 2025.

“We also support animal charities because we love dogs. But what I really love to do is go on GoFundMe at night and just pay random families’ medical bills. That’s my masked vigilante thing!” the 44-year-old star added.
During its peak, when “The Big Bang Theory” was at the top of the charts, Nayyar was said to have earned $1 million per episode, making him one of the highest-paid TV actors ever. In January, Forbes estimated the actor’s net worth to be $45 million.

“Right now, people are not happy because we are all expecting someone else to be kind. We are expecting a president or a politician, some leader, to come and bring us world peace," he asserted, continuing, “But there is no world peace if your neighbor comes to your door wanting some sugar for their tea, and you lock it against them and say, ‘get away.’"
“No one is going to come and change the world for you. You have to do it for yourself," he added.
The outlet also mentioned that the actor and his wife, Neha Kapur, utilize their wealth to quietly sponsor college scholarships for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Apart from “The Big Bang Theory,” Nayyar starred in TV series “Night Court” and films including “Christmas Karma,” “How to Date Billy Walsh” and “Spaceman.”
