Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ Gets 12 Cuts And ‘A’ Rating, Find Out What Was Muted or Deleted

The Censor clearance of Thalapathy Vijay-starrer “Jana Nayagan” has finally come through, but not without an order of as many as a dozen cuts along with an “adults only” rating. The film’s release marks the actor’s exit from films as he plunges completely into politics since taking over as the Chief Minister of the state of Tamil Nadu.

What changes did the CBFC suggest?

The CBFC asked the makers to make only 12 major edits, primarily involving dialogues and visuals. These include certain politically sensitive dialogues including deletion of the Indian flag from the movie and also change of the word “Ambedkar Sattam” to "TVK Sattam”. These have been modified or muted and few strong expletives were either muted or replaced.

Some scenes depicting violence were trimmed by a few seconds to reduce their impact. The scenes involving the TVK flag have also been deleted or muted. The total duration of the cuts is reported to be minimal, indicating that the film will mostly have its run time.

Release announcement expected soon

With the censor process now complete, the makers are expected to officially announce the film's release date in the coming days. Earlier York Cinemas, the Canada distributor of the movie had said the H. Vinoth film will be released on July 24.

A landmark film in Vijay's career

“Jana Nayagan” has generated enormous anticipation ever since it was announced, not only because of Vijay's massive fan following but also due to its significance in his career. The actor has repeatedly indicated that he intends to focus on his political commitments, making the film an emotional farewell for millions of fans.

The film features an ensemble cast alongside Vijay and promises a blend of action, drama and socially relevant themes. Directed on a grand scale, “Jana Nayagan" is expected to be one of the biggest Tamil releases of the year.

Now that the censor hurdle has been crossed with only minor modifications, all eyes are on the makers to unveil the official release date and kick-start the final phase of promotions. Interestingly, many films including ”DC” and “Sigma” have already announced their release date this July.
