The team of Nitesh Tiwari’s "Ramayana" came together in Chennai for the movie’s music launch event, where Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash and other members of the cast spoke about the upcoming film. Ranbir apologized for a slip of the tongue during his Dussehra speech the previous day in Kolkata, clarifying what he had intended to say. Sai Pallavi praised Ranbir’s appreciation for Tamil and South Indian cinema, while also reflecting on his portrayal of Lord Ram. Yash, meanwhile, spoke about the decision to play Ravana and shared how AR Rahman’s music influenced his understanding of different languages.

Ranbir Kapoor apologizes for Dussehra speech gaffe

Opening up about the mishap during his speech at Ramayana’s Kolkata event, Ranbir shared, “I want to apologise about an incident that happened yesterday while I was at a Dussehra event. I had a slip of the tongue. What I meant to say is 'burai chahe kitni bhi taqatwar kyun naa ho, aakhir mein jeet sacchai aur achchai ki hogi.’ This also reminds me of a collaboration I had with AR Rahman sir in “Rockstar.” I want to say, 'Jo bhi main kehna chahu, barbaad kare alfaz mere.' So I truly apologise for that.”

Sai Pallavi on Ranbir Kapoor’s love for films

Sai Pallavi was all praises about Ranbir’s appreciation for all kinds of cinema. She revealed, “He has watched films like Amaran, Maharaja and Baththa, and continues to follow Tamil and South Indian cinema. He keeps himself updated. He loves cinema. He makes it a point to watch it and pass his appreciation in some or the other form, which is so kind. You don’t have to do that, but it’s so nice that you do that… They should know your love for Tamil cinema and South Indian films. Playing Ram in “Ramayana” is not that easy. We've seen him in “Animal,” and “Barfi.” He has been an honest performer. Ram is a restricted character and Ranbir delivered it with his inner peace.”

Sai Pallavi on Yash’s global popularity

Sai Pallavi also went on to laud Yash and his popularity worldwide. She added, “Wherever he goes, the sound and cheers are quite fascinating and I'll tell you why! He has done “KGF” and “TOXIC” - the beauty is he gets the same kind of cheers as if he has done a movie in that language. We’re all from different languages but we are bound together by this craft. It surpasses these language barriers. I am so happy for you, Yash. Wherever you go, you get so much love.”

Yash on playing Ravana

Yash shared how his close friends questioned his decision of taking up the role of Ravana. He quipped, “When I was playing Ravana, many people asked me why I decided to play the character. It is most hated. What I can say is we are all playing different roles with different energies. I took Shiva's energy.”

Yash on AR Rahman’s contribution to music

Yash opened up about AR Rahman, sharing how his music shaped his understanding of songs in several languages. The actor said, “All of us are huge fans of AR Rahman sir. I learned Tamil because of his songs. I used to dance to “Gentleman” songs. Your contribution to the Tamil industry is massive. If I hear Tamil songs in Hindi, I feel something is missing in it. I'm happy that you are doing music for “Ramayana” and I am able to perform it. I indirectly learnt Hindi while listening to songs from “Rangeela.” I am very happy that I am able to perform my scenes in this movie with your scoring and music. It’s a dream, guys."

Sai Pallavi on ‘Ramayana’ being a cinematic spectacle

The actress also explained the difference between watching the epic on phone and watching it in the theaters. She said, “You have to watch Ramayana in 3D. When I watched the trailer on mobile, that feeling was different. When I watched the trailer in the theater with 3D glasses, that feeling was unbelievable. Namit said that he doesn't want to take the mediocre version. We are proud as Indians. We are going to present the biggest story to the world."
