‘Ramayana’: Anirudh Ravichander, G.V. Prakash Kumar Sing Shiva Tandava Stotram for A.R. Rahman’s ‘Ravana Tandavam’

Anirudh Ravichander has revealed that he has sung the Shiva Tandava Stotram for "Ramayana", collaborating with composer G.V. Prakash Kumar on the Tamil version of "Ravana Tandavam". The music composer and singer shared the news on social media, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to sing for A.R. Rahman, who has composed the track for Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious adaptation of the Indian epic.

“Grateful to have sung the Shiva Tandava stothram #RavanaThandav for my dearest @arrahman sir in #Ramayana along with my brother @gvprakash,” Anirudh wrote in his post, tagging Rahman, G.V. Prakash, Yash, director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra.

The Tamil version features Anirudh and G.V. Prakash Kumar on vocals, bringing together two prominent contemporary composers for a track centred on Ravana’s devotion to Lord Shiva. The song, titled "Ravana Tandavam", was released as part of the film’s promotional campaign, with Yash portraying Ravana in the accompanying visuals. The track draws on the imagery and spiritual intensity associated with the Shiva Tandava Stotram, traditionally linked to Ravana’s devotion to Shiva.

The song has been released in multiple languages, with different singers lending their voices to the regional versions. Vishal Dadlani sings the Hindi version, while Anirudh and G.V. Prakash Kumar feature on the Tamil rendition. Rahman has composed the track, with lyrics by Kumar Vishwas for the Hindi version and Ilango Krishnan for the Tamil version.

"Ramayana: Part 1" stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, alongside Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the film is scheduled to release worldwide on November 5, 2026.
