Nana Patekar one of the finest talents of Indian cinema is no more. He passed away this morning in Dona Paula in Goa due to a massive cardiac arrest. The actor was supposed to film for the premiere episode of "Kon Honaar Crorepati" with Madhuri Dixit. His sudden demise has left the show's team deeply anguished. The reality quiz show is going to feature prominent Maharashtrian celebs over the months. Sonali Bendre Behl and Nana Patekar were supposed to be the first ones.
In 1998, he had worked in "Wajood" with Madhuri Dixit. It was a psychological thriller directed by N Chandra who was also one of his closest friends. Before that, Nana was seen in "Parinda" (1989), which also featured Madhuri Dixit as Anil Kapoor's love interest. Both Patekar and Dixit are two luminaries of Maharashtra whose talent earned them recognition in India and abroad.

Bendre has started filming her segment on "Kon Honaar Crorepati" as the team reworks on its schedule with a heavy heart. The show is going on air from Oct. 12. Nana Patekar was found unresponsive in his home by his son Malhar. When they rushed him to Manipal Hospital he was given CPR for 45 minutes but they could not revive him.
Condolences are pouring in from all over for the actor hailed as one of the greatest India has ever produced. Actors, politicians and sportsmen are remembering him with fondness.

He was on the hot seat with Amitabh Bachchan in "Kaun Banega Crorepati" Season 16. Patekar spoke about why he left Mumbai and preferred to live in a village. He said he felt most comfortable in that setting as he was from a rural background. He also reminisced the occasion of Navya Naveli Nanda's birth when Big B distributed sweets on the sets of Kohram (1999), which was an action-thriller. He joked that while it took years for Bachchan to become a nana (maternal grandfather), he was one since birth.
