Mohanlal & The Chainsmokers: The ‘Crossover’ Nobody Saw Coming!
By Sakshi Navare,
An unlikely pop culture crossover is drawing attention online after The Chainsmokers met Mohanlal ahead of their show in Dallas. The American DJ duo, comprising Alex Pall and Drew Taggart, shared a picture with the actor on Instagram, captioning it, “Made a new friend before our show in Dallas @mohanlal.”
The image, which features the trio posing casually, quickly gained traction across social media platforms, driven largely by the unexpected nature of the meeting. Mohanlal, one of the most prominent figures in Malayalam cinema, and The Chainsmokers, known globally for their chart-topping EDM tracks, operate in entirely different entertainment spaces, making the interaction stand out.

There was no indication of a professional collaboration tied to the meeting. The post appeared to capture a spontaneous interaction rather than a planned promotional crossover. However, the visual of the two worlds intersecting Indian cinema and global electronic music was enough to spark conversation among fans.
Mohanlal has long enjoyed a significant international following, particularly among the Indian diaspora, while The Chainsmokers continue to draw large crowds across global touring circuits. The Dallas stop, part of the duo’s ongoing live schedule, provided the setting for the meeting.
The actor will next be seen in “Patriot,” directed by Mahesh Narayanan, an espionage thriller co-starring Mammootty and an ensemble cast including Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on May 1, 2026. He is also gearing up for the release of the much anticipated "Drishyam 3".
