Korean Sci-Fi Film ‘Hope’ Moves Release to October 23 in India After CBFC Certification Delay
“Hope,” the epic science fiction monster film, which was released domestically on July 15, following its world premiere at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year on May 17, is finally making its way to India. The Na Hong Jin directorial will hit Indian theaters on October 23, moving away from the earlier September release.
Previously, it was announced that “Hope” would start screening on September 25 in India but had to be delayed due to its pending certification process. The production was deferred to allow it sufficient time for its certification process by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). As of now, the English version has been approved by the CBFC without any cuts; however, the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions are currently being screened for review.

“Hope” will begin screening in the UK, Sweden, Switzerland and Ireland this week, with its release process continuing till November. The markets in Argentina, Germany, France and Spain will receive it in October. It has already crossed $7 million in the United States, making it the highest-grossing Korean film of the year in the US.
The ensemble cast of the film includes Hwang Jung Min, Zo In Sung, Jung Ho Yeon, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender, with Na acting as the writer, director and co-producer.

The film follows a small port town called Hope Harbor, near the Korean Demilitarized Zone, where a mysterious presence upends the lives of the residents of the village.
